Neurons Engineered with MagnEto‑SwItches: a tools for Shaping the nervous system
Neurons Engineered with MagnEto‑SwItches: a tools for Shaping the nervous system (NEMESIS) is an advanced research project funded by the Italian Science Fund (FIS), aimed at developing a disruptive technology to remotely control axon growth and navigation in the central nervous system. By combining nanotechnology, mechanobiology and neuroscience, NEMESIS introduces magneto‑switches, engineered nano‑devices that convert external magnetic fields into precisely controlled mechanical forces at the subcellular level. The long‑term vision of NEMESIS is to provide a new toolbox for reshaping neural circuits, with transformative implications for neuroregeneration and nervous system repair.
